Glacier Bay

Alaska Cruise Glacier Bay

A visit to Glacier Bay is an experience unlike any other in this world. When John Muir first visited the area just over 100 years ago, the mouth of Glacier Bay was completely sealed with ice. Now, ships can travel way up into Glacier Bay, as the the glacial ice is receeding quite quickly in spots.

Glacier Bay is a National Park, and when your ship first enters Glacier Bay, a National Park Ranger will come on board, and he will point out various sights as your ship travels along. There will probably also be a lecture and slide show presentation given by the park ranger - don't miss out on this fabulous opportunity to learn and ask questions of a person who lives in this remote region year round.

Alaska Cruise Glacier BayKeep your eyes -and you binoculars - open as you pass through this amaing landscape. Only 2 major ships are permitted per day, so you will see Glacier Bay as uninhabited as it has always been. Glaciers calving (that's when chunks of ice fall off the glacier into the water), seal frolicking, whales - especially at the entrance of Glacier Bay - and other amazing sights, you will be thrilled at every turn.
